This tour commences in Vientiane, where we will see the city’s most important sites, including Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple in Vientiane, and the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaew. We will shop at the city’s vibrant morning market and get a taste of local life along the mighty Mekong river. We will journey to the tranquil village of Van Vieng, which is surrounded by beautiful mountainous scenery, and visit various spectacular caves in the area. We can walk to Phatthao Village and meet the Hmong hill-tribe community living there. We will travel to the Xieng Khouang Plateau, to see the mystifying “Plain of Jars” archaeological site. We will venture on to the picturesque town of Sam Neua, from which we will visit the fascinating cave complex at Vieng Xai, which sheltered around 20,000 people from bombing during the second Indochina war. We will explore the picturesque riverside town of Nong Khiaw, where we will trek to the famous 100 Waterfalls. We will visit the mysterious Pakou Caves, stopping at small, rural villages to see traditional craft-making. In the charming town of Luang Prabang, we will discover ancient monuments and temples, including the sacred monument of Wat Visoun, the temples of Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Mai, and the former Royal Palace. We will trek to the spectacular 60 meter high Kuang Si Waterfalls, to relax and swim, with an opportunity to also visit a nearby bear sanctuary.
